The Center for a New American Security (CNAS) has released their report entitled "Crime Wars: Gangs, Cartels and U.S. National Security."
According to their website, the report is a "...result of a yearlong study by the Center for a New American Security, Crime Wars provides some elements of such a strategy, including recommendations for the U.S. government to: renew political and military outreach to Latin American states; enhance efforts to strengthen state institutions throughout the region; and better attack cartels’ financial networks. At the same time, domestic policy should aim to disseminate better intelligence among law enforcement, federally fund additional campaigns to diminish drug demand and safeguard U.S. communities against gang recruitment. Only by dealing with transnational crime in a comprehensive manner will societies in the hemisphere be able to mitigate its impact."

REPORT - National Guard and Reserves
The Center for a New American Security (CNAS) has just released a new report, An Indispensable Force: Investing in America's National Guard and Reserves, on the importance of the National Guard and Reserves.
From the website summary, the authors [John Nagl and Travis Sharp] "argue that although policymakers have taken great strides in recent years to support the Guard and Reserves, the U.S. government still is not investing sufficiently in the policies, laws, and budgets required for the Guard and Reserves to fulfill their current and future role in U.S. national security."
A video of an interview with one of the authors, John Nagl is also available.
